Where Are We Today?          Where Are We Today?          Where Are We Today?          Where Are We Today?          Where Are We Today?          Where Are We Today?          Where Are We Today?          Where Are We Today?

Thomas Keith - Class of 1976

I have just retired from the Army after 22 years at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.  I was recently selected to assume leadership of what used to be known as the U.N. Oil For Food Program.  I work for Ambassador Paul Bremmer and the Coalition Provisional Authority in Baghdad, Iraq.  I am responsible for developing a capacity within Iraqi governmental ministries for procurement, contracting , and delivery, all the while returning to the Iraqis billions of dollars of purchased goods
and services which had been contracted for under the old U.N. program.  I lead a staff of about 50 Iraqis and 50 Americans, and we administer four border entry points into Iraq.  Our biggest challenge is to ensure that there is fairness, honesty, and above all else transparency in everything that we do, so that the Iraqis will have a full and fair accounting of what their wealth has been spent on when they regain their sovereign nation status.

Sincerely,
Tom Keith

This picture is taken up on the border between Iraq and Turkey in the Kurdish zone of Iraq.  It is looking south out of the security compound I maintain there for my Oil for Food Program. This one is of me standing in front of some rusting our Soviet era Syrian submarines.

This one is taken at a a port in Syria called Tartous.  I'm the one in the beige pants.  I'm escorting an Iraq delegation from the Ministry of Trade.  We were there assessing the port's capability.  The activity behind us is an offload operation for a ship of Brazilian sugar, bound for Baghdad and other Iraqi governorates.
