Upchurch, Carl & Jean - Teachers  E-Mail Me
Jean (Haman) Upchurch taught from the beginning of the first school in 1951. After six years she dropped out to care for our growing family. We have four girls all of whom live in the area except our oldest, Jill, who lives in Marietta, GA. After our children were old enough she taught 16 years at Gibault Catholic High School in Waterloo, IL. She is retired from teaching and very involved in supervising our real estate rental business. She is looking forward to seeing some of her former students.

Carl Upchurch taught two years at the High School 1954-1956 and then became the principal of the Cahokia Elementary School when it opened. After eight years at Cahokia Elementary School I moved to the central office as Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent.

My career was cut short by a heart attack at age 43 and I left the school district. I am also involved with Jean in the supervision of our real estate rentals at the present time.

We have traveled quite a bit and some of the destinations include France, England, Scotland, Wales, Cuba and Canada. We make frequent trips to Marietta, GA to see our oldest daughter.

I live in Islamorada, an incorporated village in the Florida Keys, about 1/2 way between the Miami Airport and Key West.  I am married to Frank Kulisky, who is currently Mayor of our Village.  (2001).  My only daughter Gretchen is getting married next month.  My step children live in Missouri and Florida with their children.  Frank and I have some real estate holdings and are semi-retired but always busy with something!  We've been in the radio business, restaurant business and car wash business.
