After spending 10 years on my own, writing poetry, going to college, working hard and pondering the purpose of life, I eventually came to learn how enjoyable my own company can be, in spite of continued medical issues and surgeries.  It was a couple years later when I was blessed to meet a wonderful man who came to share my opinion.  After buying a home and a year of marriage we decided that a child would be a welcome addition to the miracle of finding each other, and after much angst on the part of friends and family (for I never doubted that I would be taken care of) I gave birth on September 13th, 2001 to a beautiful, healthy baby girl.  Although some might think that my life remains a challenge, I think of it as wonderfully ordinary.  I work close to full time, still take classes now and then, occasionally find time to write a poem, and chase an active toddler around the house.  And, I thank God for the ordinary miracles so many take for granted.
