Patty A. (Ruebel) Hartline, a business owner who was the first prom queen
at Cahokia High School, died Monday (Jan. 3, 2005) of heart failure at
Barnes-Jewish Hospital. She was 70.
A native of East St. Louis, Mrs. Hartline and her family moved to the
Sauget
area when she was a child. She was in the first graduating class
at Cahokia
High and was named its first prom queen in 1952.
That same year, Mrs. Hartline married Marvin Hartline of Dupo. In 1972,
she
became the owner of Patrician Art, which she operated from her garage,
in Sauget. Mrs. Hartline operated the business, which made concrete statues,
for about six years; she closed it after Marvin Hartline died in 1978.
Mrs. Hartline married John Ritchie of Paducah, Ky., in 1985. The couple
moved to Clarksville, Tenn.,
and started Two Rivers Excursion. After the
death of Mr. Ritchie in 1994,
Mrs. Hartline continued to operate the business
until she retired in 2000.
Later that year, Mrs. Hartline moved back to Sauget.
Mrs. Hartline's only sister, Judy Nicholson of Cahokia, died three hours
before Mrs. Hartline on Jan. 3.
Among survivors are a daughter, Pamela Lee of Lebanon; a son, Kevin
Hartline
Sr. of Cahokia; and
