The Good Things About East Saint Louis

You thought this was going to be a joke, didn't you? Although I have not been able to research it much, here is an interesting site on a history of East St Louis. There is so much to see and read. The link I am providing is from a history put together by Jack English,  who I assume is the English of English Inn in Belleville. He apparently was a politician and local gadfly. Do you remember these theatres: The Majestic, The Avenue, The Esquire, The Waverly, The New Orpheum, the Gaty, the Broadway and the Liberty? Schmidt's Cout Cafe? Century Cigar Store?

Dizzy Dean's, The Bluffs Tavern, and more? And the Ainad Temple? The Parkway Inn? The Armory? Publix Restaurant, Hodges Chili Parlor? Al's Mens Shop, Seidel's, Stanley's, Roy Weiss, Union Clothing? Brodhead Ford, Hauss Chevrolet, Young Chrysler-Plymouth, Bundy Oldsmobile, Ed Mixon Buick, Dan Blackburn Mercury &Lincoln?
