I didn't graduate with my class at CHS because my family moved to Fairview Heights after my freshman year. Over the years I have been in the
general area and continue to run into old friends from school. I have been married twice. I am a union carpenter.
My hobbies include collecting baseball memorabilia, shooting darts, baseball and volleyball among other things.

After graduation, I attended SIU majoring in chemistry. I graduated magna cum laude in 1989 and moved to Tallahassee Florida to attend graduate school at Florida State University. After my first year there I married my high school sweetheart (Sherry Davidson) and we've now been married for 11 years (no kids). I graduated with a Ph.D. in molecular
biophysics from FSU in 1993 and then moved to Houston to do a fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Molecular Endocrinology. After another fellowship in Los Angeles at UCLA School of Medicine (1995-1996)in Genetics in the Department of Pediatrics, I moved to New Jersey to work in drug discovery at Johnson & Johnson. I
was also an assistant professor of pharmacology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. In 1999, I moved back to the Midwest (Indianapolis) when I joined Eli Lilly & Co. I am currently a principal investigator in the Department of Gene Regulation where I lead a group of scientists developing new drugs for a variety of diseases.
